CHALLENGES

A private enterprise customer faced an ongoing operational challenge at its Upstate New York facility. An artesian well, located inside a cistern in the basement, continuously produced up to 120 gallons of water per minute. With no records of the well’s origins, the company had to pump and treat the water before returning it to the river, incurring significant disposal costs.

Complicating the situation, the well was encased in eight-inch pipe with a large PVC elbow, obstructing downhole access. Additionally, its confined space location required trained personnel to ensure safe entry and execution of the project.

SOLUTION

Understanding the complex requirements of a corporate facility, Plants & Goodwin deployed a team of five highly trained professionals to assess and facilitate well access safely. Equipped with specialized confined space training, the team efficiently navigated the site’s restrictions while ensuring compliance with all safety protocols.

Within a single day, Plants & Goodwin successfully completed the necessary work, removing the obstruction and providing the customer with full access to the well for continued monitoring and future plugging. By addressing the immediate challenge, Plants & Goodwin helped reduce long-term water disposal costs while setting the stage for a permanent solution.

This project highlights Plants & Goodwin’s expertise in handling corporate infrastructure challenges with precision and efficiency. Their ability to adapt to unique site constraints and deliver results quickly underscores why corporations trust Plants & Goodwin for their well management and decommissioning needs.
